Halloween Movie Night

Add a Halloween movie night to your bucket list this autumn. Growing up in Michigan fall is full of hay rides, corn mazes, pumpkin patches, haunted houses and all the good stuff. Here in the south it’s different and I find myself longing for those festive fall moments. Down here we have to get a little creative with our fall bucket list which is why I went all out for this fun Halloween movie night.

Planning

When creating any kind of celebration for my family I try to plan it out ahead of time to alleviate any stress. I make a list of the food items we will need. If there are activities I make a list of possible activities we can do. Having a plan and being able to visually see a list not only keeps me organized but helps me to stay excited about creating a fun celebration.

Halloween Movie Night Snacks

I started by making fun festive treats for our Halloween movie night. I scoured Pinterest and found some great goodie ideas. After creating our treats I tried to arrange them nicely and create my own version of a Halloween themed charcuterie board. This is something I enjoy doing for my family and the aesthetic of it gives me that cozy fall feeling.

Festive Decorations

For our Halloween movie night I also wanted to include decorations. I always decorate my home for Halloween anyways, but since we were trying to create a special ambience for our movie night I went a little extra adding an inflatable spider to the room and moving some decorations around that I already had on hand. The extra purple and orange lighting really helped the feel of it all.

Picking a Movie for your Halloween Movie Night

As for our Halloween movie this past year, we watched Hocus Pocus. I like to collect DVD’s of all our Christmas and Halloween favorites. That way if we can’t find them on a streaming service we have the back up. It’s great that the projector we chose plays DVD’s. You can find a link to it here and here is a link to our projection screen. One year we chose to watch Hotel Transylvania and hosted the movie outside after carving pumpkins.

Celebrating the season with a Halloween movie night can be done in a variety of exciting ways. Just be sure to plan ahead. Having a list of movies you want to watch and snacks you want to serve will save you time and headache. What’s your go to Halloween movie?
