Glow in the Dark Easter Egg Hunt

In my family we have an Easter egg hunt tradition. Since my son has been able to search for eggs we started doing glow in the dark Easter egg hunts. Originally I had found eggs from Wal-Mart that had a battery operated light inside. I wanted more than the six eggs that it came with, so I decided to find a way to DIY my own glow eggs.

 Items for Easter Egg Hunt

For our glow in the dark Easter egg hunts I just use the plastic eggs you find at Wal-Mart. I’ve tried using glow sticks in the eggs. However, it can be a little tricky to find ones that fit the eggs. I scoured Amazon and found these awesome little lights! They are a onetime use light because there is no on and off switch. Although, you can save the plastic piece and reinsert it between the batteries. This would turn them off and allow you to reuse them at a later date. I love them and use them for other holidays like Halloween and birthdays as well.

Set up the Easter Egg Hunt

During the day we do our regular Easter egg hunt. When it gets dark we set up for the glow in the dark egg hunt. It’s super easy to set up. Just pull the plastic tabs from the lights and pop one light in each egg. You can create as many eggs as you want! The cool thing about the lights is that they are waterproof as well! Do you live in a warm state where you can swim during Easter? Try a pool glow in the dark Easter egg hunt! You’d probably have to weigh down some of the plastic eggs to make them sink.

Set up a glow in the dark Easter Egg Hunt for Your Family

Easter has always been one of my favorite holidays. I remember all of the fun things my mom would set up for me as a kid. I’d look forward to finding the Easter eggs and I wanted to do it over and over. I hope that the glow in the dark Easter egg hunt will be a lasting memory for my son. What kind of Easter egg hunts do you do with your family?

Great idea to save real eggs! But you can still have fun.
