Glow in the Dark Halloween Party

I have always wanted to host a glow in the dark Halloween party. This year in light of celebrating life, wanting to really embrace my son’s childhood and create memories, I’m planning on throwing a fun family glow in the dark party, Halloween styled. If you are like me and looking to create a fun evening aglow here are some unforgettable ideas to help you create a magical event.

Glowing Halloween Party Invitations:

Use invisible ink pens with a UV light (like these from Amazon) and write out your glow in the dark party invitations. Be sure to include a pen with each invitation so your guests can read it. Try using neon paper (such as this pack from Wal-Mart) to create fun accents on the invites. Note, do not write with invisible ink on the neon paper as it will be hard to read.

Decorations:

  • Create a glowing atmosphere with black lights. Use black light reactive posters to create silhouettes. Glow in the dark paint and other decorations are a good addition.
  • Use glow paint on pumpkins if you are creating a Halloween themed party or light up carved jack o’ lanterns with glow sticks for the party.
  • Glow balloons with creepy faces drawn on are a spooky bonus and will give that Halloween party feel.
  • There are also black light reactive spider webs that would be an eerie Halloween decoration.

Halloween Party Costumes:

Coordinate the family and dress up in glowing costumes. Try toxic spiders, aliens or skeletons as a theme. Be sure to tell your guests to wear their neon or glow in the dark costumes as well.

Food and Drinks:

Freeze tonic water to create glowing ice cubes for drinks. It contains quinine that glows under black light.

Create a glowing candy buffet using black lights and neon candies in glass or clear plastic containers. Try using neon food coloring to create fun baked treats.

Activities and Games:

  • Glow in the dark scavenger hunt- Take a black light flash light and set up clues that will illuminate under the light. Another option would be to create an actual glow in the dark treasure hunt using glow sticks.
  • Enjoy a glow in the dark face paint station/ tattoo station that will surely be a hit with the kids.
  • Have a glowing dance party with fun lights and fitting music. Create a music playlist ahead of time. You can set up a glow dance floor using this neon cardstock paper from Amazon.
  • Alternatively you can use the neon cardstock paper to create a giant game board. Use giant dice that can be found at Dollar Tree. Paint your dice with glow in the dark paint and you have a fun glow in the dark people sized board game!
  • Glow bowling is an easy game to throw together reusing water bottles and adding a glow stick in each one as the pins. When you’re guests are done bowling use glow stick necklaces to create a ring toss with the glowing water bottles your created. To make it Halloween themed, draw faces and bats using sharpies onto the water bottles.

Crafts:

Set up a glowing paint station or enjoy making glow in the dark slime. Another fun idea would be to take glow fabric paint and decorate t-shirts!

Photo Booth:

Create a glowing photo booth with neon props and accessories. Use black lights to make them glow.

Storytelling:

Take turns telling spooky stories with a flashlight illuminated with glow in the dark decorations.

Glowing Halloween Party Favors:

Prepare Halloween themed goodie bags with glow sticks and other fun glow in the dark accessories.
